Here are just a few reasons
why Still Life Taxidermy stands out among the
competition. Please contact us and let us show you why
our quality and customer service is second to none.
Still Life Taxidermy is a full-service taxidermy studio that is large enough to meet the wide array of customer needs, yet small enough to give each customer and mount personal attention.
OUR TANNING: All our mounts are tanned on-site using a wet tan approach rather than dry preserve. During this tanning approach, a chemical change occurs preserving the hide better; keeping mounts looking fabulous for years to come. This chemical change does not occur when using dry preserve, which can lead to premature aging of mounts. By tanning on-site, we can eliminate the time wasted in sending hides to outside tanneries for a faster turn-around time.
OUR MATERIALS: We use only the best materials in our mounts. Competition grade eyes, noses, and jaw sets are used in all our mounts to achieve the most life-like mounts. We only use freeze-dried turkey heads on all turkey mounts and we carve our own forms for fish to achieve the best fit.
We put just as much attention to detail in our habitat
as we do our mounts. We have the ability to preserve live
trees and plant life for our bases that give it that
realistic look. We go above and beyond to provide you
with the ultimate mount.
LICENSED TAXIDERMIST AND WILDLIFE ARTIST: Owner and operator, Todd Nelson, has had a life-long passion for wildlife art. He began capturing the natural beauty of wildlife 20 years ago in drawings and paintings. In 2003, Todd took his passion three-dimensional in his taxidermy work. He attended the Northeast Michigan School of Wildlife Art where he studied under a master taxidermist for several months. He is federal and state licensed and has additional advanced training in fish and turkeys.
Using his background in the arts, Todd gives special attention to all the minor details in his work. In whitetail deer mounts, 5 different colors are used to paint the noses. Septums and nictitating membranes are replaced to ensure the most realistic mounts. Eye and ear positioning is tweaked until perfection is reached.
KEEPING YOU UP TO DATE ON YOUR MOUNT: At Still Life Taxidermy, we know how important your mounts are to you. We believe in keeping our customers posted throughout the mounting process. We send postcard and email updates to our customers letting them follow the progress of their mounts. Customers can also
gain access to the status of their mounts right online
anytime 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. When we complete
one of the 6 stages of the mounting process, you will be
notified.
With our training, up-to-date tanning process, and passion for wildlife art, Still Life Taxidermy will give you a personalized taxidermy experience that is sure to satisfy. While some people choose their taxidermist based on price, we hope you choose based on quality workmanship, as taxidermy is not an expense--it’s an investment. The bitterness of
poor quality will last far longer than the sweetness of a low price.
Good Luck Hunting & Fishing!
